How durable is an acrylic surface?

Acrylic surfaces are extremely durable, offering excellent wear and weather resistance. This material is commonly used in areas such as outdoor decoration, furniture, building materials, and artwork. The durability of acrylic surfaces stems primarily from its high strength and chemical resistance, allowing it to withstand daily use and a variety of environmental conditions. It is resistant to scratches and is UV resistant, making it less susceptible to yellowing or discoloration from prolonged exposure to sunlight. In addition, acrylic also has excellent impact resistance, which can reduce the occurrence of accidental damage to a certain extent.

How do you clean an acrylic court?

Cleaning your acrylic flooring court is a critical step in maintaining the appearance and performance of your court.

• Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris from the surface. Then, use a mild detergent mixed with water and gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth or sponge to remove dirt and stains. Avoid using strong acidic or alkaline cleaners as they may damage the acrylic surface. For stubborn stains, use a specialized acrylic cleaner and follow the product instructions.

• After cleaning, rinse the court surface thoroughly with clean water to ensure that the detergent residue is completely removed. Finally, dry the surface with a clean cloth or sponge, or let the court dry naturally. Regular cleaning extends the life of your acrylic tennis court and ensures players enjoy the best possible gaming experience.

How many gallons of acrylic paint does it take to paint a tennis court?

Painting a standard-sized tennis court typically requires about 60 to 80 gallons of acrylic paint. The exact amount of paint required depends on the size of the tennis court, the surface material and the coverage of the chosen color. Generally speaking, use two coats of paint to ensure adequate coverage and durability of the surface. When determining the amount of paint, you also need to consider the paint consumption of primer and lines. Acrylic coating is often chosen for tennis court surfaces because it is wear-resistant, weather-resistant, anti-slip and easy to clean, providing players with a good playing experience and safety.

What are the construction steps of acrylic sports floor coating?

(1) Construction preparation

Material preparation

Acrylic coating: primer, caulking material, midcoat, topcoat (different colors can be selected).

Auxiliary materials: interface agent, filler, diluent (depending on the situation).

Tools and equipment: scraper, roller, mixer, leveler, cleaning tool.

(2) Site requirements

Base ground: It is recommended to be concrete or asphalt, with a flat and solid surface.

Ground flatness: The error of a 3-meter ruler does not exceed 3mm.

Ground drainage slope: It is recommended to be 1% to 1.5%.

Dryness: The moisture content should be less than 8%.

(3) Environmental requirements

Construction temperature: above 5℃ and below 35℃.

Humidity: It is not suitable to construct in an environment with a relative humidity higher than 85%.

Weather: No rain or snow, ensure no precipitation within 24 hours.

Construction process

1. Foundation treatment

Clean the ground: remove oil, dust and loose particles.

Leveling and repair: Use interface agent and cement mortar to repair cracks and potholes.

Sanding: Slightly sand the whole surface to improve adhesion.

2. Apply primer

Use acrylic primer and add water in a 1:1 ratio (according to the manufacturer's recommendations).

Use a roller or spray to apply evenly to enhance the basic adhesion.

Drying time: about 4-6 hours (depending on the environment).

3. Caulking and leveling

Use acrylic caulking material to repair cracks and joints on the ground.

Use acrylic leveling material to scrape and apply to ensure that the ground is flat.

Sand and trim after drying.

4. Middle coating

Middle coating ratio: acrylic paint + quartz sand (medium and coarse particles) + water.

Construction method: Use a rubber scraper to scrape 2-3 times.

Function: Increase the friction coefficient and provide comfortable sports performance.

Apply each layer 6-8 hours apart.

5. Topcoat

Topcoat ratio: acrylic topcoat + appropriate amount of water.

Use a roller or spray to apply 2 times to ensure uniform color.

You can choose a topcoat with better UV resistance according to your needs.

6. Marking

Use special acrylic marking paint to mark the sports line according to the standard size.

The marking should be uniform and without burrs.

7. Acceptance criteria

Flatness: no obvious bumps and no water accumulation.

Color: smooth surface and uniform color.

Adhesion: no peeling when scraped by hand.

Marking: clear and without breaks, in line with the size specifications of the sports field.

Maintenance and Care to Extend Acrylic Courts' Life

Daily and Weekly Care

Sweep or blow away leaves, dirt, and debris to prevent surface abrasion.

Remove standing water after rain to avoid long-term moisture damage.

Use a soft-bristle broom or mild detergent for occasional deep cleaning.
Seasonal and Long-Term Maintenance

Inspect the surface annually for cracks, peeling, or faded areas, and perform touch-ups as needed.

Avoid using harsh chemicals or high-pressure washing at extreme pressures, which can damage the coating.

In cold climates, clear snow and ice promptly using plastic tools to prevent scratching the surface.

FAQ

1. Can acrylic tennis court surfaces be pressure cleaned?

Under normal circumstances, the use of high-pressure cleaning can effectively remove dirt, dust and other debris from the surface, restore the cleanliness and brightness of the surface, and improve the appearance and use experience of the court. Of course too much pressure can damage the surface, causing the paint to peel off or become damaged. Therefore, before performing high-pressure cleaning, it is best to conduct a test in an inconspicuous area to determine the appropriate cleaning pressure and water spray angle. After cleaning, the cleaning fluid and remaining dirt should be thoroughly cleaned in time to avoid leaving chemical residues or water stains, which will affect the quality and durability of the surface.

2. What coatings are commonly used on outdoor tennis courts?

On outdoor tennis courts, the coatings often used are polyurethane or acrylic resin mixtures. This coating is wear-resistant, weather-resistant, anti-slip and provides stable performance in a variety of weather conditions. In addition, this coating can also provide appropriate elasticity, helping to reduce the impact of players' sports and reduce the occurrence of sports injuries. Its color, usually green or blue, helps players better see the trajectory of the ball. This coating is widely used on outdoor tennis courts to provide players with a good playing environment and experience.
3. Is acrylic court surface safe for kids and athletes?
Absolutely. Our formula is low-VOC and non-toxic, with a textured finish that prevents slips. Elastic acrylic systems also reduce joint impact, making them ideal for young athletes and competitive players alike.
4. Can I customize the color or design of my acrylic court?
Yes! We offer a wide range of standard and custom colors, plus the option to add logos, facility names, or multi-sport line markings to match your brand or needs.
